About Us
A beautiful old Georgian property in the heart of sleepy Dunbar, with comfortable but not overstated accommodation. The Retreat was so named at the time of it's construction; probably as a location to run away to, to escape the rigours and stresses of Georgian life, by its then owners. Some things don't change and whatever the reason, we're sure you'll feel all the stresses and strains melt away when you're under our roof.
Our History
Lynn, Dave and their young family set up home at the Retreat in December 2004.
They have had their work cut out though; this charming old house required a
great deal of love, attention and hard work ploughed into it, to return the
Retreat to its former glory, living up to the credit of being a stylish, roomy
and - most importantly - welcoming Home for them and home from home to the many
visitors lucky enough to stay.
Future Plans
In the near future, it is hoped to develop our old stable block and convert it into a two
bedroomed self catering holiday cottage, without losing the character of the
original building and hopefully retaining many of its original features. Check
